How To Communicate With Body Language

A lot of experts claim that the words that people say towards one another only accounts less than 10 percent of the message that they actually want to convey, while body language accounts more than that percentage.

Though this may be true, it does not always necessarily apply all the time. Regardless, it is advantageous if you are aware of the various body languages and what they mean and know how to communicate your thoughts through the use of body language.

  • Natural Behavior

Before reading any further, one of the first things that you should keep in mind is to behave naturally. You may be well-versed when it comes to identifying the meaning behind body languages and be able to pull off some of them when interacting with other people but the thing is that chances are, you do not look natural and there will always be those who would see through the act. While it is true that knowing to properly express the right body language at the right time can help build rapport with other people, it is still good to behave in the most natural way possible.

  • Identify Your Body Language Patterns

Once you already have disciplined yourself in behaving in the most natural manner, the next thing that you should start focusing on is identifying your personal body language patterns. Try observing yourself when you interact with other people. Notice how your hands and feet are positioned in relation to the people whom you interact with. Try visualizing your facial expression when you are engaged in a conversation. Try paying extra attention to your body when you are emotional like when you are excited, nervous, angry or disinterested.

  • Observe If What You Say Is Translated Or Shown By Your Body Accurately

Body language’s effectiveness is dependent on what you want it to communicate. You may say that you are confident when interacting with people but if they notice that you are stuttering or slouching then they are less likely to believe you. On the other hand, if you are standing up straight, you are speaking in a moderate pace and using a lower tone then you do not even need to tell people you are confident because they will see it through the way you carry yourself.

There are countless ways to communicate with people through the use of body language and these are some of the more important reminders that you need to keep in mind.
